Erlinda Ocampo Johnson was born in Nicaragua. At the height of the civil war in Nicaragua, Erlinda Ocampo Johnson and her family sought asylum in the United States and eventually settled down in Santa Fe, New Mexico. As an immigrant and eventual citizen, Erlinda Ocampo Johnson pursued the American dream of education and success.
Erlinda Ocampo Johnson graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law and immediately began employment as an Assistant District Attorney with the District Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque prosecuting crimes ranging from DUI’s, assault, battery, drug offenses, to violent crimes of sexual assault and murder. After over five years as a trained and experienced Assistant District Attorney in Albuquerque, Erlinda Ocampo Johnson became a Federal Prosecutor at the United States Attorney’s Office in Albuquerque. At the United States Attorney’s Office, Erlinda Ocampo Johnson prosecuted a vast array of complex drug cases involving Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force cases, Criminal Enterprises, Conspiracies, and evidence obtained from telephone Wiretaps as well as prosecuting Criminal Immigration Offenses.
After six years at the United States Attorney’s Office, Erlinda Ocampo Johnson applied the enormous wealth of training, knowledge, and experience as both a State Prosecutor and Federal Prosecutor, to the aggressive and thoughtful Criminal Defense, Civil Rights, and Criminal Immigration Law practice of the Law Office of Erlinda Ocampo Johnson, LLC.
